When you need a refurbishment survey
Whenever refurbishment or other intrusive work is planned in a building built before 2000. The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 expect a suitable survey to be completed before work begins, so contractors know what they are dealing with.
Risks of starting without one
- Contractors disturbing asbestos without knowing
- Contaminating the property and the people working in it
- Stop-work orders, fines and delays
- Unexpected removal costs part-way through the project
What you receive
The final report lists every asbestos-containing material found in the work area, with photographs, floor plans, laboratory results and recommendations. Contractors use it to plan the work and decide whether licensed removal is needed.

How we do the work
Assess the project
We review your plans and identify the areas affected, and prepare a plan for the survey.
Intrusive inspection and sampling
Trained surveyors open up walls, ceilings and floor voids and take samples of suspect materials. The area should be empty during this stage.
Laboratory analysis
Samples are tested in an accredited laboratory.
Report and register
The results go into a detailed report with photographs, floor plans and recommendations.
Asbestos waste is double-bagged, sealed and taken by a registered carrier to an authorised disposal site. You receive a waste consignment note as your legal record.
